Henry River Mill Village

You know this little town as the beloved District 12 from the movie The Hunger Games. This abandoned mill village has been so well preserved that you get the historic feel without having to constantly check over your shoulder to make sure you won't die. The village consists of 21 houses that are still standing in pretty good condition considering they were built in 1905. The village is still kept up for Hunger Games tours. While we did not take the guided tour, we were able to very easily see all the sites we intended to. As you pull into the town, you are greeted by Peeta's family's bakery where the famous bread toss occurred. It is surrounded by houses. Most are boarded up for safety, but you may tour a few. There is a house with an open back door that we toured. You can pick it out of the crowd by it's back steps--it's one of the houses with nicer looking stairs and an open screen door.

Also easy to spot is the dam that Katniss crosses to go hunting. We do not recommend trying to cross it! It is off-limits to the public and very dangerous, but fun to see!
